Hard to say w/o opening it up. But, just trying to imagine what would make a "zipping" sound - the fingers of the pressure plate that contact the throwout bearing coming in contact with a stationary piece of the clutch assembly might make a zipping sound. In any case, "that ain't raht"!

Any reason forcing me to open the clutch housing is reason enough to R&R everything while I'm "in there".
