As an aside, at 40k miles I replaced my fuel filter (located on the frame, behind the right front wheel) the same time I replaced my fuel pumps. I was shocked at the amount of crud that was in there!.

Great point! That and the "socks" on the pumps. Sometimes they are plugged to the point where the pump is sucking up the socks impeding the flow of fuel.
