My first time around with this modification, I used C6 muffler parts -the entire tip and vacuum actuated exhaust flapper.

If I ever do another one, I would try to get the same type of valve used on newer BMW's. Quite a few models have them now. They are a better valve since they don't rattle. A lot of the used C6 NPP mufflers you find for sale are warranty repaired C6 units that were swapped out at the dealership due to noise (so buyer beware). Also don't forget the entire exhaust systems expands when it gets up to operating temp so make sure to leave room for that. mounting the valve to the side is the safest bet.
