Day 19 - We drove from Richland, WA to Baker City, OR. The easy route would have been straight down I-84, BUT, we decided to take the scenic routes through the Wallowa -Whitman National Forest: WA-124 to US-12 (the Lewis and Clark Scenic Trail) to WA-129 to OR-3 to OR-82 (the Hells Canyon Scenic Highway) to I-84.
Heading west out of Richland, we were still surrounded by agriculture:
We stopped in Pomeroy, WA because a good friend of ours back home is Tony Pomeroy and we got a T-Shirt that says "I Love Pomeroy" with a map of Washington. It is a very nice town and we liked the Garfield County Courthouse built in 1901:
US-12 is the Lewis and Clark Trail. There are numerous historical sites to visit:
This barn we found is a very interesting configuration:
Between Clarkson and Lewistown, we turned south an drove thru the mountains on WA-129 and OR-3. These are Mountain Run caliber roads and loads of fun to drive:
