My antenna housing had three screws and a nut in the middle that had to be removed. That's it. Removed the broken stuff and relubed and then I fumbled around with it until everything fit right and then actually threaded the cable in to the top, using the off/on knob to take it up in the housing, just like you would if your cable wasn't broken. John, this is exactly what I did to fix mine. The cable was broken and my repair was just as you described. Good job! Now, about that header install...
