I have been using them (3 now) since 2002. The BATTERY TENDER brand is one of the first "smart chargers" on the market which unlike a trickle charger that will over charge and boil a battery away, the voltage is monitored and the unit folds back into a maintenance routine where it periodically (I'm told) will de-sulfate the battery with a pulse sequence which keeps the formation of the sulfate from obscuring the lead plates - reducing the amperage capacity. I have had batteries last for 14 years and still crank the car(s) like new!
