Re: June 29 Washington DC GTG>>> sign up
I know about the painters tape. I looked like a low-rent cousin out there, but it did a nice job of keeping debris off the paint. Very few C4s there in a sea of C5s and C6s. Just a few "old" ZR-1s and GM brought 5 new ZR1s. I could bore you with details for an hour, but the short version...the car ran great; pads survived even for the drive home; NCM HPDE was VERY well run and worth every penny; C4 ZR-1 is a very competitive platform (hey, I was a rookie, but the car held its own against newer, higher hp cars). I felt I could be competitive in all sections of the track except the main straight. It was only my second time on a track - first in my Corvette. Big leaning experience. There was no doubt though, if 500hp C6 ZO6 wanted to pass me on the long straight, he could and I was happy to wave 'em by. Same with those darn 600+ hp ZR1s. Wow...they scoot! But for a stock 375hp 1990 ZR-1, I thought the car was awesome. IF I did this more often, I would upgrade the brakes. I could tell though, as I got more experience, I was getting easier on the brakes. Great fun guys!
