Code reading and clearing, a paper clip and a 7mm wrench (or 8mm, can't remember what size the battery terminals are)

For scanning, you'd need a cable and some software. There is free software, and non-free stuff like TTS Datamaster and others. You can get a USB cable from places like moates.net, and probably other places. You can try TTS Datamaster for free 20 times.
