I wonder out of the 6,939 made how many there really are left. I have a hard time imagining that its anywhere near the original number produced. Its probably impossible to know. And although we are active owners I'm sure there are plenty of hermits out there that want to keep them under lock and key like a leprechauns pot of gold. An interesting motor trend magazine show I saw on TV I think in 1996 they were talking about the 1968 GT390 fast back mustang that was driven in the movie Bullet that came out in 1968. They used 2 440 R/T chargers and 2 GT390 fastback mustangs in the car chase scene. Both got totalled during that the chase. Accept for one of the fastbacks that was apperently bought by a retirerd police chief in New Jersey where it resides in his garage. When Motor trend contacted the own to do a story on the car and get some pictures the owner wasn't interested and declined. They said he was a very reclusive person. This guy owns a piece of movie history that Steve Mcqueen the man himself sat in and drove during some of the chase scenes. But he refuses to share with the rest of the world. My father is now 68 and he said when that movie came out it was the greatest most raw, and brutal car chase movie ever produced. And for those of you who have never seen it here it is.
