Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I think you will find the reason for people recommending "rip it out" is due to years of frustration with the systems. I bought mine from the original owner, and he had problems from day one, which they never were able to resolve. After the warranty expired, they basically told him to jump off a pier, despite the fact of all the service calls while under warranty. They told him to take it up with Bose, and you can imagine how far that got him.

So when you hear that attitude, don't be surprised. I'll try to look up which shops are recommended for speaker/head unit repair, but keep in mind that their warranties don't go much longer than 1 year either.
