The carpet on the door side of the threshold (rail) would sometimes get wet a couple inches from the bottom if caught driving in the rain. But! During the RMR (a fabulous cruise, BTW), we had a day when it rained most of the day. The result was the entire sill was wet by the end of the day.
I ordered new door weather seals from Willcox (- arrived in a Corvette America box), which arrived about a week later. The new seals were a perfect fit. And, the rubber was soft an pliable as the OE seals were. The installation was easy - only had to loosen the door panels to access the anchor screws - panels did NOT have to be removed entirely. My only problem was a few of the plastic anchors around the periphery of the seals pulled out of the rubber as I worked the seal around the door. No biggie, tho. I simply reinserted them into the rubber seal and gave them a little twist to align the anchors away from the little slits cut into the rubber (during manufacture to accommodate installation of the anchors in the seals). Anywayz... I thought if anyone was considering replacing the seals, the rubber from Willcox is good stuff. NOTE: Not all replacement rubber is like the OE stuff, I find. Some is more firm/dense, and may not fit as well. I believe Robert DeMarco(?) told me that Willcox gets its rubber from Corvette Rubber? Maybe too does Corvette Central? IDK. Anywayz, I also replaced the rubber around the windshield (when I repalced the WS). I got that new windshield rubber directly from Corvette Rubber, and the fit and texture was exactly like OE too. ![]() Last edited by Paul Workman; 09-28-2018 at 12:06 PM. |

Willcox makes good replacements. Especially for the rear hatch seal which has the rigid reinforced corners. Eventually they all tear in those corners however IMHO Wilcox did not design them to tear like GM did. They actually intended to improve the design and improve the customer's experience. Glad to hear the door seals are of the same quality. GC

I used their stuff when I had the windshield replaced on my GS about 5-6 years ago. I pulled the seals off and on and just had them do the windshield. I did the front and rear around the targa and it has been holding up good.

Good to hear, Paul.
I agree, I have their hatch weatherstrip which has held up well for 6 years now.
