I just thought I would share this for someone else that might be considering more heat/sound insulation on the exterior. While under the Z and detailing/making the plan for battery relocation, etc. I figured I would consider more sound and heat insulation while the motor and trans is out. I already insulated the interior prior to new carpet install so I researched and considered many options. Finally I came across this site and decided to order this product and Jason is still honoring the prices from last year:
http://www.motownmuscle.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=90357 http://coolandquiet.com/products_detail.cfm?PID=4 I'll start making patterns this weekend and post the pics after install and eventually rate the product difference when I eventually get it back on the road. I am only going to get 1 sheet and from the measurements I took will be more than enough for the inside of the tunnel all the way back from above the bellhousing back to the rear storage. Since I am relocating the battery I will also insulate the storage box on the outside with the excess. Aloha, Last edited by HAWAIIZR-1; 12-26-2009 at 03:49 PM. |

Craig,
When you are done you'll have one quiet Z on the inside. ![]()

Thanks, just doing what I can to make it better (another while I'm in there, sure do have a lot of those). I hope the heat works more than the sound insulation. Well........I do have B&B tri-flow with headers and no cats. I hope you had a wonderful XMas even though you could not have dinner with my "HOMEBOY". ![]() Craig |

Craig, my guess is the cool and quite will make a heck of a difference. If the weather cooperates next month when you are out this way you can see first hand how doing "a little" can make "a considerable" difference. Good luck with the project.

Tom,
I guess that is what it should be called at this point. I had no intention of doing all of this, but since I am constantly waiting for something to come in or to find an item on the Z, just keeping busy basically doing a frame on restoration. I don't know about being the "man", but just trying to share info if useful to someone else since I try to research stuff before I do it. Thanks for your positive comments! ![]() ![]() |

There isn't anything more frustrating than standing around waiting for parts to arrive, or looking for parts so you can get what you need to carry on working.
I do believe that's a contributing factor to our "while we're here" rule! ![]() The rear gear huh? I'll bet I will see another ZR-1 where the ants will need sun glasses as they pass under the car! ![]() When she is dunn, I know that this will be another really sweeeeeet Z! ![]() ![]()
