Default Loose front caliper?

Noticed a noise up front recently and decided to have a local shop look at it as well as give it a brake system flush. He says I have a "loose fitting caliper". Says the bracket and hardware need replacing. I'm sure the topic has been discussed ad naseum, (I did do a search and there have clearly been many options), but I'm just curious if anyone knows what options are still out there today. Lord knows finding parts isn't getting easier.

Should I just get an oem replacement? Are they available? Would I be better off buying a different set for the front that could be an improvement?

I get worried when I have to buy parts as almost Everytime I do, it involves some kind of complication.

Still worth it tho

The brakes are the same as the base car from 95-96 I believe. What you want if a J55 caliper and bracket if you even need to replace it,these calipers -float- somewhat.

What bracket? The caliper bolts to the spindle directly. If I was going to look to replace, I would use the C5 front calipers.

This is 'wrong' - caliper is retained with pin & e-clip in the abutment.

OP - ask shop to show you! It's certainly possible

This is a very 'generic' '88+ caliper image. e-clip placement is sometimes debated whether inboard or outboard but FSM shows 'outboard'.

I have a lightly used set of grand sport calipers I would part with.

If you hear a rattle over bumps it could be as simple as a broken anti-rattle spring on a pad. Worth inspecting the pads.
