green indicator lights on HVAC cntrl

just change the battery on my lo mile 1995

and noticed the green indicator lights on my HVAC controls are not illuminating

it does show outside temp
manual desired temp 60* to 90*
ac works correctly
fan and fan speeds are good 0 - 10
switches from vent/ floor face and floor and dash defrost all good

just no indicator light to show what function it is in

any ideas
nothing was taken apart just change the battery
