Thermostat gasket question - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

I have the new radiator in and while installing it unbolted the thermostat housing and just took off the thermostat housing top also.

Now I cannot get it to seal. The FSM says the gasket goes in front of the thermostat but with it like this it is impossible to line up the gasket with the housing and make a seal.

Do I need to pull the entire thing out?

After laying on my back and failing over and over to get it to seal I just walked away.
