Default Slicks

Anyone use slicks (like mickey thompson et drags) for drag racing a ZR1?
If so, what size slicks and what size wheels?
Thanks.

I'm sure others will answer better, but I think the 275/40-17 size that the fronts use can be found in DR or slick form. I've seen some cars with the clearly narrower front wheel on the rears.

Any pictures or details on your SS engine swap? That's an unusual one.

I had a website with photos and details but when I relocated and changed ISP's the website disappeared. The swap was easy except for the wiring harness, which I ended up doing myself using both service manuals. The only things I haven't got to work yet are the stock Impala tachometer and speedometer. I used the Buick 2004r, the stock Impala trans crossmember, a lengthened Buick driveshaft, Buick motor mounts. I have a TE61 turbo, PTE intercooler, 50 lb injectors, shift kit, 3000 stall non lockup converter, 3.73 gears. My best ET of 12.53 was with 22 psi max turbo boost and about 5 psi boost at launch. If I launch at 10 psi and set the max boost at 25-27 I should be closer to 12.00. Between now and next summer I plan on installing line lock and may get some cnc ported and polished heads and an aftermarket cam which should put me in the mid 11's.

BFG makes a 315 dr that will fit perfectly on the rear. Also, you can run 16" wheels/tires

hi, sorry for the delay. I went a different route and picked up the very agressive (and new) hoosier 335 17 drag radial. basically a stiff wall cheater slick with two grooves. I haven't made many runs but yea, they hook!!

if I had to do it over I would go with the drag radials, as too much hook will kill the clutch or break stuff. the 275 doesn't fit the stock 11 rims but you can pick up the 9.5 and they fit perfect. the softer sidewalls (taller) do a fine job, less wheel hop, and easier on the car.

the M&H drag radials are pretty hard to beat overall. you can also go full slick but don't go crazy with dumping the clutch or you will be snapping spindles, half shafts, ring & pinion. they hook so hard that it's hammering the car leaving up over 4k rpms. you can come out softer but then the car can bog and fall on it's face. I actually like the old turbo burford cause it's an auto and 60 fts alot better.

getting a 1.8 or better is quite good. most folks on street tires can struggle to get 2.0 or better. the new supercar F1s can hook almost as good as the drag radials.

but if you want to come out hard, go M&H Drag Radials IMHO with the correct size wheels. I'll let you know about the hoosiers in the spring. My first 60 ft killed a clutch, so that wasn't so hot!!!
