I discovered where a couple "extra" brackets went that came off my Z somewhere during the disassembly for painting, etc (discovered when removing the same bracket on Ami's new ZR-1 to fix a lazy headlight). But, of course the bolts and screws off my Z were nowhere to be found. I looked and looked, but noddah... Out of frustration I made the 34 mile round trip to the Fastenal store that sells automotive nuts and bolts. Total cost, including gas = $16 and an hour driving time.
Bracket installed and I'm putting everything away. And, as I picked up a rag to wipe off a tool, what should I spy but a little Tupperware tub hidden beneath it that contained...yep...the missing bolts and screws. $16 out the friggin window! Am I the only one that does this kind a crap? Gotta love it...this Corvette hobby! ![]() |

You are not the only one. I do the same with parts too.
Found 2.5 mm allen on the fresh air intake the other day - I think it's Phil's... |

I hear ya. I dropped the 1/4" drive ratchet handle down between the firewall and the map sensor. It never hit the ground and I could never find it to this day. All I can say is it must be there among the missing socks I've lost over the years

I've found a few tools lodged in cars . I don't know who owned them first, but a couple of them became my favorites.

I do that all the time. I keep all kinds of stuff in my garage "because I might need it". THEN when I DO need it I can't remember where it's at - or it's buried too far to look for. Probably why I have so much stuff in there - easier to drive a couple miles to the store then to look or dig for it... So stuff I have becomes buried even worse by stuff I got because I couldn't find or was too lazy to look for
![]() And Dyno - that system wouldn't work for me. A: I would just throw stuff at the tins hoping it landed in one of em And B: My hands are so messed up from work I would drop the darn things if I handled em too much and playing 500 pickup sucks... So back to my system - stuff everywhere LOL ![]() |

I just found a nut driver handle and an expensive name brand socket I had been missing for a few months stuck in the crack of my F-150's bench seat!
Funny how I was just bragging about finding other people's tools and here I go and find one of mine. |
