Marc thanks for the help. Could it be the infamous starting being bad?

I also noticed that when I turn the key it kills the radio including the power ant and the clock goes dark. Dash lights as well as interior light remain consistent. Just wanted to provide additional info while I trouble shoot.

Check those battery cables especially the ground. Follow it along. What type of replacement battery did you get? If it has top and side posts make sure the top posts are not coming into contact with the Cruise Control Bracket under the ECM and shorting out

I am using a side post batter. I don't think it is a faulty battery since I just replaced it when the issue started. Is their anyway to see if the starter is faulty without all the head aches that go along to get to the starter.

Between the computer and engine there is a purple wire that goes directly to the starter. If you provide 12v to it that should tell you if the starter is good (although you could still have a bad ground). Do a search here for purple wire and you'll find more details. Make sure the car is in neutral with brake on when you send the 12v to the starter. I followed Dynomite's write-up to install a relay. That is a good mod to do. Good luck. |
