It was a great ZR-1 Get together!
Here we are lined up at the Mill. (Sorry Bob, I didn't get your Red 90 in the shot.) It was fun, Jim |

Sorry I missed you guys, but I was busy at VIR. What a great couple of super track days. Now I have a much better idea of what our cars can do. What do you think of the new look of my car? I bought a set of A-molds for my track tires and had them powder-coated black. Also added the black hash stripes. Makes the car faster you know...ha. See you guys next time.

Yeah Keith, so how was the class? Would you recommend it?
How did the car perform? How many sets of brake pads did you go through !?! |

I know about the painters tape. I looked like a low-rent cousin out there, but it did a nice job of keeping debris off the paint. Very few C4s there in a sea of C5s and C6s. Just a few "old" ZR-1s and GM brought 5 new ZR1s. I could bore you with details for an hour, but the short version...the car ran great; pads survived even for the drive home; NCM HPDE was VERY well run and worth every penny; C4 ZR-1 is a very competitive platform (hey, I was a rookie, but the car held its own against newer, higher hp cars). I felt I could be competitive in all sections of the track except the main straight. It was only my second time on a track - first in my Corvette. Big leaning experience. There was no doubt though, if 500hp C6 ZO6 wanted to pass me on the long straight, he could and I was happy to wave 'em by. Same with those darn 600+ hp ZR1s. Wow...they scoot! But for a stock 375hp 1990 ZR-1, I thought the car was awesome. IF I did this more often, I would upgrade the brakes. I could tell though, as I got more experience, I was getting easier on the brakes. Great fun guys!

Forgot the bad news. I took a rock hit to my perfect windshield on I-95. I have a 1/2in star crack now. I was sooo mad.
