How about that 2 new forum members one local to me and the other across the big pond.
So welcome to GG and KM both. KM you will have to get to know the FBI (Fast Boyz of Illinois) guys. If fact I need to go to one of their Pizza Parties myself someday to get inducted. ![]() GG one of my fav ZR-1 pic's ![]() It is Hiro's ZR-1 taken in Aug 2002 -- One year before I scored my ZR-1 and joined the ZR-1Net. So perhaps the long time guys can expound on Hiro and his ZR-1 in Japan. I always liked the way his mod on the exhaust turned out. |

Thank you for sharing the picture. The picture and "Hiro" name recalled my good days which I had almost forgotten. If Hiro is Hiroshi Mitani, I remember him. I got acquaintance with him via one Japanese mailing list which was to discuss about American cars about 12 years ago. He was a very nice guy. When I met him, he told me about how Hiroshi blow Ferraris and Porsches away at the Tokyo Wan-gun highway with his ZR-1. They said that Hiroshi drove his ZR-1 crazy fast. I was deeply impressed with his story and his ZR-1. If I recall correctly, Hiroshi's ZR-1 was maroon red, not black as seen in your post, so the ZR-1 may be another Hiro"s ![]() Yoshifumi Honda 1991 ZR-1 Last edited by gorgeousgeorge; 11-10-2010 at 06:51 AM. GG you may be correct in the Hiro Z being a Dark Metallic Red.
If you look close at the cropped pic of the left corner it does hint of a red tint IMO. ![]() You can see the flash reflection in that corner that serves to really add a lot of light to that corner and resulting in the red hue/tint coming out. This Hiro photo is in the shade and not really that much sunlight on the ZR-1. Now here are some other ZR-1's that at night look to be black models. First a Dark Red Metallic ![]() For sale at this website >>> http://www.hnhcorvette.com/C4-Corvettes.htm Now a Dark Rose Metallic ![]() Finally my buddy Pete's Polo Green ZR-1 ![]() All of these at night can look very much to be a black ZR-1. Even the 40th Ann. Editioon 93 ZR-1 looks to be Black at night Here is a 40th next to my ZR-1 ![]() |

I have a question about the Dark Rose Metallic ZR1. What brand and size rims are on your Corvette? The most beautiful C4 I have ever seen.

Now I will post my PHOTO magic thanks to Photoshop filtering to simulate evening photos
Now on this one we added brightness and less on contrast -- It almost looks brown rather than red but you can only do so much with the light adjustments. ![]() The Dark Red photo has so much bright sunlight we could not get it to go black with adjustments but we got close ![]() Now the Dark Rose did go dark very well with adjustment even with the bright sunlight. ![]() And the Polo Green on the side did well again with bright sunlight the rear deck still shows green. ![]() The 40th 93 still shows a hint of red - again the intense bright sunlight on the front ![]() But I think you get my point if any of these were a "shadow" photo with the sun not being direct on the car like the Hiro photo it would be easy to make them all go "dark" with the bright/contrast adjustments in Photoshop. My conclusion is the Hiro ZR-1 may very well have been a Dark Red Metallic ZR-1 and the photo hides that fact because of the lack of direct sunlight and being a "shadow photo".
