Tough VA emissions - need help
time has come for VA emission again
the standards are very tough, the LSV is a 390 ci, full porting, big valves, and has the 234 cams which make it very tough I also have the secondaries removed which reduces the "port velocity" swirl, runs off both injectors above 1% throttle the 48 HC standard typically gets me, I'm well over it, usually around 130-150!! I'm considering brand new cats on the car as mine are the random cats and several years old and from what I understand don't do that great a job (great flow though!!) I'm looking to potentially get an emissions chip burned, one person even suggested a chip for M85, but I've never seen that done. anyone pass this tough a standard with a stroker ZR-1?? don't think it's possible but any alternatives (short of moving or selling the car ) are welcome anyone have any suggestions??? I'm coming up due in July thanks!

Re: Tough VA emissions - need help
Ron,
I have a stock 94 chip you can borrow if you think that will help. Might think about unpluging all of the secondary injectectors so you run just on the primaries. |

Re: Tough VA emissions - need help
I forgot to mention before...
My car has a Doug Rippie chip in it and it passes just fine with it in place. I have the stock chip but have never installed it. The engine is very close to stock so that probably explains a lot. Let me know if you need help. I'm in Anaheim so I'm close by. Jim Sorry... posted this to the wrong thread. Oops. |

Re: Tough VA emissions - need help
I feel your pain. I have a post running on the very topic, but here in Ca.
It sounds like you have a pretty hard HC limit to hit. How is the test done in Va? Is it on a "Dyno" or just in neutral at certain RPMs?

Re: Tough VA emissions - need help
on a dyno at idle 15 mph, and 25 mph
need to find some help as with this configuration I don't think I have a prayer of hitting 48 HC unless the car is tuned for E85 or something very special an emissions chip and fresh cats might do it, but with these cams, I doubt it.
