Electrolysis can do them in over time and also if you or your mechanic is not careful, you can break it.

Agreed,

At least twice a month! When anyone buys a motor from a junk yard, they always leave these bolted to the frame and they get destroyed or lost. Hot rodders too, buying crate motors never come with the motor, they need these as well.

Second most requested part, coolant crossover tubes.

On a side note, i had quoted to make these thermostat housings a couple years ago, cost was less than $500.00 for them if i remember correctly, i'll wait to see what this goes for and decide if i should pursue this project.

Kurt, I think you estimated $650 for the repro not $500. Could be wrong though. Interesting sidebar on the new Bay t-housing. The quick disconnect fitting is not the original design. Has been replaced with the new design so you "all correct folks" may need to find a fitting for judging.

I just checked my initial post & it was back in 2006:

Price for outer piece, GM part # 14104599 is going to cost $265.14

Price for Inner piece, (This been the part where the over flow pipe attaches
into, as well as houses the Thermostat) GM part # 14104598 is going to cost
$395.26
If you buy the two pieces as a set, the cost with thermostat and seal
included is $624.41

Good memory you have!
