To me the amazing part is that this is 1940's technology! At the same display they had a cutaway of a basic P&W radial engine. The supercharger was actually integral with the block (if you can call it that) with variable boost controlled via its own gear set. In other words the supercharger speed could be shifted like a manual transmission. Cool stuff...
