Default How does the ashtray door stay open? Is it supposed too?

Stupid Question, but I can't seem to find out looking through my manuals.....How does the ashtray door stay open? Should it catch on something, making it stay open?

I'm doing little winter projects. And this has always bugged me about my ashtray door..... if I have a bottle of water and pull it out of the cupholder, the ashtray lid snaps closed. Shouldn't it stay open or am I wrong?

Steve, it’s next to the round hole where you put your beer between slurps...
I imagine a Rusty Nail in a paper cup would fit there too?
😀
