FYI: This should be huge and a great cause too!

On Saturday, April 13, one of the biggest “Show and Shine” car-and-bike-and-truck shows in New England is coming to Lime Rock Park. It is a first-time event, and it’s one of the largest efforts to benefit victims and the first responders of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy. There will be huge convoys of vehicles from states as far away as Maine and Maryland, coming together to show their support for Newtown.
It’s called “Spikes Ride for Sandy Hook at Lime Rock Park” organized by George “Spikes” LeGrice, who lives in Raynham, Mass. At least a dozen other convoy leaders, including Walt Lemet of Torrington, Conn., have donated much time and effort to the cause. (Lime Rock Park is donating the facility and its staff to help make this happen.)

“Spikes Ride for Sandy Hook” is a Show-and-Shine for cars, trucks and bikes, featuring live music, a drifting exhibition and a motorcycle stunt show, plus other activities for kids and adults. The show’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The show – close to 2,000 cars, bikes and trucks! – will be held in both the Infield and Outfield. All Lime Rock Park concessions and cafes will be open. On the racetrack during the show is an EMRA Track Day.

If you have a car, bike or truck you want to enter into the show, arrive between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. It’s a $15 donation for cars and bikes, $20 for pick-ups and bobtails.

If you come as a spectator, the donation is $5.

All proceeds collected from admission and individual donations will help those affected most by the tragedy – the families and first responders who suffered in the Newtown calamity.

Sandy Hook Family Healing Fund – Started by parents in Newtown, the mission of the Sandy Hook Family Healing Fund is to assist the survivors from the two classrooms where the shootings took place. Adopt a Sandy Hook Cop – This program was started by Mother’s Embrace Yoga, from Shelton, Conn., to support the Newtown Police Department. The money collected by the program is provided directly to the Newtown Police Department liaison, which in turn distributes the funds to officers in need. John, I'm planning on going, just hoping to hook up with someone somewhere. Most of our snow is gone, had a hell of a bon-fire last night. Took the snowblower off the tractor, so the snow better be done.

I don't know if I can make this one.

I have too much stuff to do in prep for the BG thing. The weather just started to get to the 'working al fresco' stage and I have some stuff marked off the punch list....but I have more that I'd like to do that would be 'extra' above the scheduled maintenance that is left on my list....stinks not having a garage!

I'll be at the ALMS race though!

Ended up going. 'Bout a 200 mile ride, each way. Tons of people showed, lots or ricers. You know, with the swing up doors and drivers that need belts. Anyway, there must have been a thousand cars there, and I never got over to see the trucks and bikes.
I left about 1:00 and people were still showing up. -Steve
