Jano,

I agree with your observation from past years in that once the secondary fan does come on the coolant temp would drop enough to notice it on the gauge. I would look to see if the core has junk stuck in it. I also would think that if there was junk stuck in the core you would see the temps climb much faster than in previous years? I also would just check to make sure the secondary fan relay and the primary fan relay are both working correctly. Just to be sure I covered all the possibilities?

I hate to suggest pulling the shroud as that is a pain in the neck. Maybe you could look in thru the oil cooler side of the radiator or up thru the air intake opening at the front and get an indication if the car sucked up road junk into the core.

I think on the driver side injector housing. Follow the wires to it.

Been there done that! This is your answer.... On first glance mine was clean, but on closer examination the fins of the radiator were plugged with fine sand. They all get this way after 20+ yrs. Had to replace the radiator. Might as well do the thermostat, hoses and belts while your in there. Like the old Fram commercial said "pay me now or pay me later"

The one on the right looks like mine. Glad temps seem to be better. I would suggest doing what was poster before about inspecting and cleaning the front of the radiator stack. It's just good maintenance. I installed this screen 14yrs ago and it saves a lot of time. I inspect the screen and clean it twice a year.
