Talking Guns and Jerks

1. Guns.

2. Jerks (Edited to include Forums).

Dealing with Workplace or Forum Jerks by Kate Rogers (Fox Business) Feb 9, 2014. This applies to Forums as well as Workplace situations and was edited to include Forums.

Kate Rogers says:

There’s one in every office or on every Forum. That person with a difficult personality that is hard to get along with and strains office/Forum morale.

Whether it’s the boss or a co-worker, Forum Administrator, Forum Moderator or associate Forum Member, that person makes the office/Forum environment less friendly.

Robert Sutton, author of The No Azzhole Rule says negative and difficult people in the workforce or on the Forum tend to weigh on productivity and team cohesiveness, which can ultimately impact a company’s/Forum's bottom line.

“They are so disruptive and the biggest challenge [for employers/Forum Members] is when they are productive and also jerks,” Sutton says. “In that situation, it might be worth coaching and transforming them. I wouldn’t recommend throwing out people who are otherwise talented.”

Sutton says there are different types of office/Forum jerks, and it’s not always easy to know if a person is a “certified” jerk or just a “temporary” jerk, Sutton says. Just about anyone is capable of being a temporary jerk, he says, but coaching and transforming can change a personality characteristic.

But for certified jerks, the future is less rosy.

“To me, the test is if it’s a person who consistently leaves people feeling demeaned and de-energized,” he says. “There’s a whole bunch of things they do: backstabbing, putting their needs ahead of their colleagues or their companies or Other Forum Members.”

If the jerk happens to be the boss, Forum Administrator or Moderator, deciding how to handle the situation can be more complicated, he says. The first, and most obvious move, is to simply quit the job or the Forum.

“There’s evidence that when people leave jerky bosses, or Forums that do not deal with Forum Jerks their mental health goes up, their productivity goes up, their physical health goes up and they get more creative,” he says. “So I would think about quitting” the job or Forum.

But of course, that isn’t an option for everyone, and Sutton says there are other ways to mitigate the behavior.

“If you fight back, you have to do a power analysis of your workplace/Forum and really think about it--especially if your boss, Forum Administrator, Forum Moderator is more powerful. Don’t go after them alone,” he says.

Sometimes it may be beneficial to form a “posse” and complain to management or human resources or Forum Administrators/Moderators about bad behavior.

“It’s one thing when one person says you’re a jerk, but if you’ve got 20 people [saying] ‘you have to get rid of this person,’ ” that is more powerful.”

Sometimes, there’s nothing workers can do.

“A lot of times in life, you can’t escape, and if you are going to fight back you can get screwed,” he says. “My advice is, and people always talk about passion and caring, but sometimes the best thing is learning the fine art of emotional detachment to get on with your life.”

LOL!!

Question, is it true that if you get pulled over by peace officers, are you supposed to immediatley identify yourself as a concealed carry owner?

Also. Is it true that if carrying a handgun in a car, that there are supposed to be a certain amount of "moves" before you can pull the trigger.
Eg. 1) Open glovebox, 2) remove trigger lock, 3) Load gun
OR
1)Open center console 2) Unholster gun 3) Load gun???

I'm just curious about some of the handgun laws of my neighbours to the South.

I once had a friend that was charged for having the softcase of his shotgun unzipped by about an inch.

Thanks in advance

peace

Hog, in NH, we're suppose to inform the officer that we are carrying. I don't believe there is penalty if you do not. In NH, remove gun from concealment, aim, and pull trigger. That's three steps right?

Here in Nevada, if you have a CCP you are in the DMV data base. When the cops stop you, they will know that you pack!!

And yes, you need to let the cop know if you have a weapon in the car whether you have a permit or not.

If you let the cop know up front, they generally will not do anything.

It's the same here in Texas. They know you have a CCP when they run your plate but you are still required to inform them. They always then ask where it is but they never want you to reveal it. Not in my experiences, anyway.
