Default Question about rubber gasket for injector electrical plug

I'm in the middle of my first plenum pull, to replace coils and injectors. During dis-assembly I noticed one of the 16 injector plugs is missing the small orange rectangular rubber sealing gasket.

My question is, if I put everything back together, then buy a new gasket next week, will I have access to be able to insert the missing gasket (with plenum in place)?

If yes, is there one particular injector that is easiest to get to?

Thanks.

Russ I had the same thing happen to me during my plenum pull to replace injectors. One connector was missing the sealing gasket. Ended going to a local salvage yard and the manager there pulled one of the gaskets off a Chevy engine he had laying in the shop. Was the same exact gasket and he didn't even charge me for it!

As far as replacing it after the plenum is back on, I couldn't tell you. I would go take a quick look but my car is in the repair shop..

Default A stroke of luck!

Thanks, Shea.

Guess what I found under the starter motor. :-)

Yep. Found the 16th rubber gasket.

haha... working under the plenum to reseal my crankcase vent box, I just found one I dropped down there 3 years ago. I also had just pocketed a couple from the wrecking yard.

I had almost decided to leave my crankcase vent box alone (when I saw the A/C and secondary stuff had to come out). Glad I didn't. Every bolt was loose.

After working on it today, I think I'm going to call Marc tomorrow and plan to remove the secondary plungers, linkage, vacuum lines, etc.

^^^ Don't think it didn't cross my mind...

I went ahead and put it all back together today (it went together easier than apart luckily). Just holding back on capping it off with the plenum as I'm waiting for a part from Jerry. Not my first rodeo with the vacuum stuff, but it is the first time I stripped the valley down that far.

Well, I've spent another couple of hours reading threads on this site. Wow, there's a lot of info here. My head hurts.

While reading, I realized that removing secondaries also includes removing the throttle plates and shafts. Before that, I thought it was just the valley parts and chip.

When I call Marc tomorrow I'll see if I can get the definitive word on everything I need to do (and parts needed).

This "while you're in there" stuff is like a snowball on a steep hill (but I know it will be worth it).

Monday AM update... Steep learning curve...

I spoke with Marc and he said removing the butterflies is probably not worth the effort (2 HP?), and removing the shafts is difficult with the engine in the car - special tool needed, need to plug the holes, etc.

He suggested to keep the linkage in place and secure it with some type of bracket to hold the butterflies always open.

I ordered his custom chip. Marc said it will come with instructions regarding everything that can be removed.
