Went with my wife to Ocean City, MD to meet friends at a new restaurant that was having it's grand opening for the season. I was 4th or 5th in line for valet parking and the line was not moving. After a few minutes I got out to see what was going on. The valet attendant was looking frazzled getting in and out of the car. I asked if he needed help and with an Irish accent he said the car was broken, it would not move, the transmission was stuck. The car was running and I asked if I could try. I got in and moved the car, no problem. The kid was so happy....he had never operated an automatic and was trying to shift without first stepping on the brake. Got free parking that day

I absolutely hate valet parking and do anything I can to avoid it. One time though, was with my girlfriend at the time and we were going to dinner with another couple who chose the place. We were in my built CTSV Manual and we get there and the only option is valet. So we pull up, hand off the keys and then I wait to watch them pull away. They got in, barely pulled it forward and then left it by the front of the restaurant. I have the feeling once they saw it was a manual they didn't want to go far. I think that's the only time I have ever valeted my own car.

I wouldn't want to let someone random drive my ZR-1, even in normal power mode.

I had a buddy who was a valet and after hearing his stories, I'd never want a valet to drive anything I own, or anything anyone else owns.

Every time I see a valet sign I think about the Ferris Porsche clip
