I think the hot setup is buying a high miler, rebuild the motor with some nice upgrades and then just enjoy driving the darn thing. Worrying about mileage accumulation ruins the whole experience. My BR ZR has 114k on the chassis but the motor has about 20k on it and the heads are recently updated. It has a liberating feeling to just enjoy driving the damn car and not always worry about the odometer.

1992 ZR-1 #0068. 109,000 miles and counting! I'm not worried about resale, because I'll never sell it.

Once these car become true collectors mileage will only define how much "more" they are worth......look at 63s/BBs......basket cases for $20-30

How many guys sold their 63s/BB cars for 6-7K in the 80s and are kicking themselves now

If you want something collectible then buy something thats collectible right now. Shelbys/SS Camaro's chavelles/Superbee/Super bird ect. None of us know what our Z's are gonna do on the collector market. The experts all say that there are still just to many low mile Z's out there.

If you buy these things for resale, you would be better off just buying some art to hang on the wall and look at! These will probably never appreciate like the mid-years. According to the newest Corvette Magazine even the new ZR1's are not collector cars. They built too many. Dealers are now discounting them to get rid of them! Our cars will always have the stigma of hard to find parts. People are just too leary of the parts issue even though for the most part that is just perception. I say, keep them maintained and drive em like you stole them!!

I remember when I watched mine flip over to 10k miles back in 05.....I was thinking it's just broken in right about now...then I just noticed that I'm at 49,009 just today, and I'm thinking yep, she's just about broken in right about now....awh heck, I have too much fun just driving her to stop and worry about what my odo reading is doing to her value. Heck, I paid for her, and I darn well am going to use her!

But....to some one else she ain't worth much, but I don't care about that because I bough her and I can't put a price on all those miles of smiles I've had with her. I guess I'm just not cut out to be a collector car owner!
