The least Teeters could do is get his name right in half the paragraphs. His last name is McLellan, not Hill. When I see mistakes like this, I question the accuracy of other statements.

Also, when I see Teeters drawings, alot of the time he has cars with mixed and matched parts from other model years. Like the '84 in the article picture that has '86 model year wheels. Recently I saw a picture he had done of a '88 Corvette with the GTO body kit offered at the time by Chevrolet. His illustration had later c4 (91 - 96) base wheels. Maybe it is just me, but professional caliber equals accuracy, and that is why I usually equate Teeters work as second class.

It's like all these coffee table Corvette history books out there. When I see representative model years with aftermarket wheels, aftermarket exhausts, late 80's wings, or filthy engine compartments,it is kind of like "why did they bother?"...they certainly didn't do the representative model year or generation justice in the eyes of the novice who is learning and doesn't know any better. No problem with an owner doing that, it just, in my mind, doesn't belong in that book.

Yes, nice to see McLellan get some copy, but get it right!

My wife and I had a chance to meet Dave with a group of Zoom guys here in Michigan along with Marc Haibeck at a Lingenfelter Cars and Coffee...We all went to lunch then he invited us to his beautiful home. Like the article says he is very approachable and we all enjoyed listening to him talk about the inception of the Zr1 and getting to see some of his corvette memorabilia..

Truly a highlight of our summer!!

I agree with "Meanmyz". That article is pretty marginal in some areas as far as accuracy.

For example, it's discussion of B2K. Other than giving the technology developed during the in-house twin-turbo project to Callaway, GM engineers had what I thought was a modest role the Callaway twin-turbo development. No doubt Dave played a key part in the decision to give that technology to Reeves, but I doubt that McLellan had a lot of direct control over Callaway. Heck, he was to busy bringing the ZR-1 to market.

Also, the article only discusses the LT5 and the wide body as differences between regular C4s and ZR1s. He forgets a bunch of other stuff was developed specifically for the ZR1: the 315s on the back, the big brakes introduced for MY88, the six-speed and SRC in MY89.

I think calling the LT5 jewel-like is a dumb-*** statement. If the freakin' LT5 was "jewel-like" they'd have never exhibited the power potential and durability that the engine has shown.

I love Scott Teter's graphic skills but I've read his stuff before and IMO, he thinks he knows a lot of s**t but, sometime, he doesn't always properly research the stuff he may not know.
