Raptor Shift light impressions Single Vs Dual Mode
I had the ZFDOC install a Raptor Dual mode shift light last week. Works great but I wanted to let the community know the "dual mode" light might change your plans for installation. I chose amber BTW. The original plan was to have it installed behind the center vent like so many folks have already have done (Andrew most recently). The problem is once you do that you wont have the option of hitting the mode bottom that switches you inbetween modes or the normal shift mode and the staging mode. You would have to remove the vent in order to do this. The button is almost all the way on the bottom due to the setting dip switches residing in the middle of the shift light
Heres where Andrew installed his but I didnt due to the button. BTW Andrew did a nice clean install on his single mode light http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/v...t/IMG_3211.jpg I guess your install plans would still be ok if you chose to ignore this other function so keep this in mind when you purchase one. The single mode version which is about $40 cheaper will work great but it doesnt have the staging mode option. I just placed it next to the left pillar and its not bad. I will post up a pic of that later tonight. Raptor seems to be the WTG since Dom determined a timing issue with the Harlan setup. It is a very small and slick little mod. Just FYI GC |

with the dual mode.. what type of switch, push it once and that is it or?
maybe we could 'mod' the light with a wire for a remote switch? |

Jeff its a simple push in switch but you have to hit the button twice within a second to shift between the modes. When I get home I will show a pic of the it and my new location so folks can "SEE" what im taking about. I love the lightand I like and the Amber color just makes sense in our cars. |

Re: Raptor Shift light impressions Single Vs Dual Mode
As you can see its small enough to rest next to the A pillar. You can cap it if you dont want to see the light
http://members.cox.net/goldcylon/rap1.jpg As you can see in this pic its a small unit the white portion in the center for you to custom set the rpms. A little lower is the back toggle button to shift between modes that I was talking about. http://members.cox.net/goldcylon/rap2.jpg |

Its a launch mode function or feature. You set the RPMs that you wish to stage your launch and dump the clutch at take off. Instead of minding the RPMs on the tach the light strobes on so you can focus in on the racing strip tree. Thanks Jeff for posting the web site. |

GC,
Mine was installed on the A pillar using an rubberized electrical clamp and one of the screws for the A pillar. I can set it so its level with my left eye and as you said you can cap it for regular driving where you can't see it. Altho, I don't normally shift at 7300rpm on the street anyway. |

I installed mine on the A-pillar also. I wired mine into the parking lights on the head light switch. When i want it on, turn on the parking lights, otherwise, leave it off.
