Resonator or not?
I'm getting ready to put a B&B cat-back on, and I've seen some guys not running the resonator (with various systems). Any pros or cons? It wouldn't be with an X pipe in it's place, just straight pipes from the transmission back to the mufflers.

I have headers, no cats, x-pipe and the B&B. Ive gotten use to it and rarely drive at RPM's that will produce heavy resonance. |
Re: Resonator or not?
I ended up with what I think is the best of both worlds a muffler/resonator thats an xpipe. the car is quiet and has the hpto boot . the part i am talking about is onpg 66 of the summit catalog in the center at the top made by dyno max ck it out was my answer to quiet power

Re: Resonator or not?
i replaced the resonator with an x-pipe...since i kept the cats, the difference in noise and resonnance is hardly noticeable,as the cats absorb much of the noise

Re: Resonator or not?
when you add headers is when ths problem begins even with cats its drone time with an xpipe

Re: Resonator or not?
i cut out the resonator and ran strait pipes to the mufflers, i think it sounds even better! you got to have a little rummmmmble to it. not bad on the noise at all, go for it!

Re: Resonator or not?
I'm running the B&B with an X pipe behind a 415 with headers and no cats. It's a little loud inside, except for 1000 rpm where the resonance is terrible. The sound outside the car is wonderful.

Done. Just came back from the shop. They didn't have the stuff on hand to do the X pipe, so that can wait until it's header time. Just straight pipes from the cats on back. Sounds really good. The interior resonance isn't too bad - or maybe my SS Camaro just had me conditioned to that kind of noise.
