Honest ta God...If I moved from IL and had to reinstall mine for some reason, I'd think hard about selling 'er first! Well, mebby not, but DAYAM, John! I'd rather take a whoopin' than put the 90s WITH cats installed back on!
I see you have a 91 and live in ID, so this may not apply, but I seem to recall that in Kalifornia you can get a waiver for headers and aftermarket cats because the 90's headers are welded to the cats, and as such are no longer available from the manufacture. That fact might have some bearing on ID b/c several localities follow suit "whatever California requires is what we require" kind of mentality. (Dave McLellan alluded to this last year at BG while discussing the so called "Valet key" and it's real purpose - having nothing to do with valets, BTW.) So, is this a periodic requirement to have the car inspected? And, too, I wonder if it would be easier to pull the engine, install the beotches and then drop the engine back in? (Pulling the engine would take me less time and be a whole lot easier than it was for me to remove those friggin things in the first place!) P. |

I had to replace the O ring in the cam sensor last week and I thought that was a bitch. After removing half of the smog crap on the drivers side just to get to it, I can not imagine trying to R&R the exhaust maniforlds. Even if my state allowed LT headers I wouldn't do the job myself. I never got into ''self abuse''.

Update:
Stock manifolds and exhaust are on. I need one of the clips welded back on the air tube that attaches to the oil pan. I'll get that done this week and install the air injection system and this baby is done. Started it too. Glad that's over. |
