I have to get a hood and have it painted to match my car... I have a white car and a white powder coated engine. I am thinking about having the hood painted white inside and out. What are some thoughts?

If it was my car - no.
Serp.belt throws up a bit of grease and rubber dust. Keeping it clean would be tough. Also, a lot of underhood - frame, inside fenders, cowl, etc... are all flat or satin black. |

Is the engine a "color match" to the car finish? I'm guessing not and it would become a more obvious mismatch with the hood backside colored to match. Last edited by WVZR-1; 07-31-2011 at 09:08 PM. |

I saw a red one the other day that had the inside painted red and glossy. Looked really good. But must be alot of work to keep clean.

I would like to see that! I am surprised how easy it is to keep my white engine clean! Was thinking I could do the same with the hood!

I feel you need to keep it black for some contrast. You would have to much white going on and it will wash out your engine. The white (bad ***) engine is highlighted by the black. You can try a mock up if you want to see for yourself.

You have the same paint scheme that I do. I had the hood taken off and wet sanded and cleaned. Then had it painted gloss black with a red ZR-1 logo put near the top center. Really looks sharp. I have a couple of pics but don't know how to get them over here. I'll work on that tomorrow and post the pics. ![]() |
