Temperature setting has nothing to do with the operation, it will only allow the AC to run longer to the get to the target set point.
It is not like you are controlling an outside damper threw a analog signal which will proportion the amount of outside air that is being entered into the cockpit.

Jeff, the airflow did not go up. the squirrel cage is rated at X CFM without changing the speed of the motor or the pitch of the blades on the squirrel cage the rate of flow will not change.
If you go to a larger squirrel cage make sure you dont over amp the motor, and be careful that you dont choke the inlet surrounding area. Just like our engines you can only exhaust what you bring in.
