Hi Folks,
I found this link online and was interested in putting an SLP Power-Flo exhaust on my '90. I searched the forum here and at CF, but couldn't find any mention of it. Do any of you have any experience with it? Could one cat-back system fit the LT-1, LT-4 and LT-5?!?! Thanks for any opinions, -Burt http://www.lmperformance.com/5901/24.html |

I've got no experience with that particular system but I once had a '97 Camaro SS and opted for the "performance exhaust" option from SLP. I'd guess they've made somechanges since then but I really loved the sound of that exhaust, it's one of the things that made that car fun to drive.

I looked into that when I was changing my exhaust. The sound clips sound excellent, and generally SLP exhausts seem to sound quite good. It also is SS and nicely priced. What was the killer for me though was that they system is not straight-through.
This may be of no concern for you though, but I really wanted a change to have the maximum performance gain possible, as that was why I was changing the exhaust in the first place. Honestly I think the stock system has an excellent sound quality. I also found the SLP tips a little, um, not to my liking. |

Bob,
You've got a Flowmaster, right? Speaking of tips, I think those are my least favorite. I'd probably look for a pair of factory 92-95 tips to go with the setup if I get a flowmaster Why do you say that the SLP system is not a straight through? It definitely looks like it should be. -Burt |

No, I actually have stock pipes. I replaced the resonator with an LT4 resonator, and replaced the mufflers with Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers and re-used the stock tips (because I think the square tips are awesome).
When I called SLP, they said the mufflers are not straight through. Meaning they have some bends, probably two U-bends. The system has no resonator, so I'd guess the mufflers may have to do a bit more muffling. The guy said their "loud mouth" mufflers are straight though, and their "power flo" ones are not and are a bit quieter. It's not necessarily a big deal, though. Flowmaster mufflers are not straight through either, nor are the OEM ones. They may be just fine in terms of flow. I just didn't want to take the chance. |

Bob,
I like your thinking there. The factory pipes are 2.75". Many aftermarket systems (like the flowmaster) are 2.5" diameter. Opening up the resonator and mufflers should give you even better flow characteristics than a full cat-back system like Flowmaster. Are the LT-4 resonators better flowing than our '90 zee resonators? Last Time I saw a Dynomax muffler it was basically a kinked straight through. Something like this: ____ / They were all stainless and had a nice deep tone. Isn't that what yours look like? http://www.dynomax.com/products/ufss.asp How does it sound? Nice deep tone, noticable in the cabin when you are leaning on it, but not detectable otherwise? Any resonant peaks as you run up the RPMs? Thanks for the banter! -Burt |

I have never seen the inside of the LT4 resonator but the Lt1s it really necks down inside and restrcitive...The inlet for the exhaust tip is necked down a lot, too.

lt-4 resonator is the least restrictive of the factory ones . doesnt neck down. . stays at 2.75 unlike all the zr1s 90 2.25 91-95 2.5hope that helps

You can see the muffler here: ![]() ![]() Quote:
But I love it. It sounds great, flows great, and looks stock, which is exactly what I wanted. And to top it all off, it's cheaper than any cat-backs. Here are some video clips: http://vettetube.com/view_video.php?...ba18e051673d90 http://vettetube.com/view_video.php?...7ee22b6198c578 |
