Prices on GOOD cars have indeed been firming up.


Price guides and books do not buy cars.


People do.


If you happen to have the car that one person wants, and it meets their demand for condition, mileage, color, etc. then the check books come out.


There will still be price discussion, but the check book is out.


"Car People" are funny that way.


There are some that only buy price; but there are also others that simply want THAT CAR!


Personally, I have the "car guy/gal" affliction as well. When it is the right car for me, price is not the deciding factor.


I am not alone.

Agreed, which is why if I had 22k right now, I'd be the owner of a steel blue metallic 1991....lol.

But special colors, combos, etc. will always bring higher prices, whether the market is soft or not. Hagerty isn't an "off the cuff" valuation tool. While I believe the market has flattened out I've seen no evidence that it's picked up. The clean 53k mile 1990 in FL for 16.5k is a prime example.
