Like the C4 made a dramatic design entrance, so shall the C8 if it becomes a Corvette as a mid-engine design. I wasn’t thrilled with the C5-C7 until the ZR1 version cam out. Just my personal taste.

Rumor mill I've heard is there will be some carryovers from current C7 generation ie 6.2 supercharged, and a very special DOHC with forced induction pushing far north of current C7 ZR1 levels. No idea on internals if we're talking 180 degree crank, Titanium alloys etc. I hope the LS7/LS9 will not be the last factory motors with Ti con-rods.
I hope it goes on a diet and closer to C6Z/ZR1 weight levels. |

Whatever that motor was, it sounds like it is both DOHC and smaller displacement than the typical Corvette. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a supercharged or turbo V6.

While at BG earlier this year I spoke to a GM engineer who worked on the C8 project (I will leave it at that). He said the C8 will definitely get DOHC V8 engine specifically designed for it. Not a derivative of any other current GM engine. It will come in both NA and turbo version but probably not at launch. He also confirmed there would be hybrid version down the road. BTW he owns a C4 Z.
