Default Anyone sell me a copy of the Van Dorn's Pirate Racing dvd?

Hello all. I am slowly grinding my way towards racing an LT5 narrow body zr1 with the guidance and help of a few members here and on CF. Its going to be a year before it sees track.

I was searching for vandornjim posts and i found one where he had sold a dvd of his time on pirate racing.

I have seen a video of his presentation online at the 2009 gathering. Does anyone know if this dvd is the same as the online video of his presentation or is this a further detailed account by Jim regarding the Pirates race team?

If there are any copies of this DVD around I would be interested in purchasing one.

Cheers!

here is the post of Jims where he introduces this dvd for sale.

I'll have to dig around but I have a DVD from the 'Ole Pirate, God rest his soul. Would you mind a copy, I want to keep my original as it's signed by JVD.

Once I find it and get it copied I'll PM you so that you won't have to post your address in a public forum.

jVD was a very interesting man, he either liked you or he didn't. He used to love to stir the pot, he had a special way of getting people riled up.
Had many an interesting conversation with him, and visited his shop back when it was in Palm Desert. Got to set in the Weekender, his black widow car. Just the passenger side though, I was not confident enough to take the pilot seat. I do wonder where that car wound up.

In case you didn't know, JVD moved his Corvette shop
from Palm Springs, CA to near the National Corvette
Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Not only would he help and service ZR-1's, he would
hold a BIG BBQ at his shop every Gathering. With
dignitaries there, he would auction off ZR-1 stuff
for charities. There are a few JVD ZR-1 cam covers
out there with signatures all over them.
He was very friendly and hospitable.
I can still picture him at the grill with his dog nearby.
Brings a tear to me eye, matey...

Thanks for sharing. Clearly the man had a passion and was generous in his spirit. Wish I had the opportunity of meeting him and attending his events.

This community seems to attract good people. :-)

Here is one link to him in story telling mode which i have watched a couple times.

Additionally, here is a link to the youtube channel of Peter Kitchak, who, i believe was quite the "nemesis" of the Pirate team. I am sure they would look back today and laugh about how much fun it all was, but in the heat of the moment I am inferring there was some serious rivalry.

If anyone wants to watch the pirate racing team's ZR1 racing (and whooping) the competition, The entire 99 world racing speedvision series is on his channel. Enjoy!

Interestingly, I've just recently found vandornjim, and have been reading his posts. He had stopped posting here, and his website is no longer working, but I don't know what happened to him. Anyone be willing to enlighten me? Seemed a great gent.

Btw, what is this DVD anyhow?

PM me your address, I'll send you a copy too.

JVD was true lover of all things Corvette and high performance and the founding father of Pirate Racing.
He was a fierce competitor, a creative genius, and more than a little a Gentleman Scoundrel.
He was the creative inspiration for Thunder at Stillwater.
His company, Automasters, specializing in Corvettes and especially ZR1s, created an upgrade package he lovingly called "Snakeskinner", a off the cuff jab on besting Dodge's Viper.
He was known far and wide for hosting BBQ parties at his shop in Bowling Green.

He passed away way too soon, but he left a legacy deserved of a Pirate Captian of the highest caliber.

Could I ask for one, too? Happy to cover shipping and expense to produce.
