did you replace the gasketing around the top area of the windscreen too? Im soon getting replaced. The installer recommend I replace it as it will be damaged removing the old one?

He is correct. Sometimes the molding can be removed without damage but not always.

Hi Guys,

I opted to replace the gasket around the edge of the windshield, yes. It came out in good shape and could have been re-used, but figured it would be best to replace it. I bought the one from corvette-rubber.com. It fit perfectly.

The metal molding - I was also prepared with an extra set I bought off Ebay (Contemporary Corvette) but we were able to re-use the original set, which I preferred to do since that part was more visible and original to the car.

I'd recommend the new gasket for sure and be prepared to have a backup set of metal molding, but push to be very careful removing it so it can be re-used.

Mike

Mike,
You did it all the best way possible with the glass, the tint, the rubber, molding, all of it!
It looks outstanding!
You no longer will scowl as you approach your beautiful ZR-1.
Your process is the best recipe available today and likely for a long, long time.
If replacements ever became available, even as a devout NCRS member, I would have to consider following your route if I needed a replacement.
You waited a long time for this day; Enjoy it!!!

Thanks Marty, that means a lot coming from you! I appreciate the kind words.

I'm pretty proud of this car - it is definitely awesome, and more so now that I can see out the windshield. It was pretty terrible.

I am thrilled with the windshield for sure, it needed it badly. I knew it'd never be a 100pt car anyway for NCRS even if I went that route, so with this and the engine, it sure looks so much better than it did (and the car deserved so much better!).

Thanks!
Mike
