The CDM is for sure busted. It has a capacitor rolling around inside the cage.
In the process of removing the CDM I saw some of the wiring had been messed with. I'm assuming there was an aftermarket stereo in this car at some point. Could anyone tell me why these hacks were made? Should I be concerned when I hook up the new CDM? ![]() ![]() |

Hard to say what/why those "intercept" (wiretap) connections were made. But, I've got nothing nice to say about them, based on the number of problems I've encountered as result of them being used: sooner or later.
Installing weather pac connectors, or soldered splices with shrink tube is infinitely a better connection than those wire intercept POS. ![]() Last edited by Paul Workman; 09-03-2014 at 01:32 PM. |

If the CDM was in the car you need to match the connectors of the CDM to the FSM wiring and make sure that the pin-outs are correct and are all populated as required. You need to remove everything in your snapshots and it looks like it shouldn't be an issue. Correct the broken insulation on the wires where splices and those other connectors were used. For the areas that just have insulation fractures "brushable electricians tape". The Wurth product is very good.

You might need to check with a couple larger, quality auto repair shops to find the representative but I doubt it a problem.
