Default More C8R specs DOHC Flat Plane Crank.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/c...185500425.html

I saw the base c8 this past weekend on the streets of Chicago and I must admit the eye candy appeal wasn't there. Maybe it needs to grow on me.

Most of the current articles on this are
making a bigger deal out of the flat plane crank
than DOHC???

Yes the flat plane crank seems to be well discussed.

The RPM limits are much higher but to my understanding at a cost to overall reliability?

Has anyone seen the latest Hovemann Hillclimb video?

9000rpm LT5 sounds amazing with the flat plane crank!

The LT5 in that Opel does not have a flat crank. All flat crank V8s sound like four-cylinders and the difference is obvious, unless, of course, you're deaf. The reason the sound is different is firing impulses are coming every 180° rather than every 90°. That's the same as a 4-cyl.

Hib, you forgot the other half of the v8.

An example of a flat plane firing order is
14527638
Or two four cylinders firing
1342

Ooops, yeah, I got that, but the exhaust noise sounds like a four.

That LT5-powered Opel sounds like a Cup Car to me, ie: a 90° crank.

I kinda doubt GM is sandbagging. I think MT's dyno testing is screwy. Either way, I have a meeting with Jordan Lee in Michigan week after next and that's on my list of stuff to ask him about.
