Question Oil Leak

What is the part number for the sensor underneath the oil filter housing? How much of a pain is it to replace? It is leaking oil when the engine is running.

TIA

From our distinguished friend and colleague guinnessdude.

Check your local auto parts store and buy a Duralast PS206 or equivalent. Make sure you buy the one that states it is for a car with gauges...not just the light.

The GM Part # is:12555492

NIEHOFF OP24471 $25.99

DURALAST PS206 $9.99

VALUCRAFT OP8165

As far as difficulty, nothing to it.

That is the wrong sensor, that is for the sensor that control the gauge. There are two other sensors on the underside of the oil filter housing. Oil temp, and oil pressure sensor for the ECM.

Oil temp sensor - 90-91 10096136 92-95 10096181
Oil pressure ECM - 25036935

Oil pressure ECM - 25036935

Should be the fat and stubby sensor. Have fun changing it.

Well, since the picture is one that Uly vadered off my website, I'll post the pic. And you can barely see the sensor he is asking about.

Any tips on how to do it?

Remove the oil cooler hoses and snake your arm through the gap. Jack up the motor on the right side after undoing the nut for the motor mount and see if you get enough room.

There isn't any other way?

Was hoping there was a special tool or extension that would work without having to move the motor.

Actually, there is another way. Buy a round trip ticket for Jeffvette, feed him well, introduce him to some new avatar girls, and pay him a reasonable fee and he'll show you exactly how to do it.
