Default Help; where's this post by Marc H???

In an exhaust / header discussion thread, Marc H posted (or someone quoted him from elsewhere) , where the 'bottleneck' is in stock exhaust '90.

Anybody remember it?

I need to know if it's a factor in a potential header purchase @ BG...

Thanks here...

Apparently it's not a factor; rather a separate consideration:

SW also sells a seperate exhaust system I believe - you could use factory, use the SW exhaust, or some other aftermarket exhaust system

Only if you also opt for the X-pipe too. Which reminds me...

If I recall correctly, I believe at one time SW had two X-pipe options; one with a "cheese grater" liner (presumably to address resonance) and one w/o. Personally, I opted for the clean 3" X-pipe (no such liner). Might be worth asking about if also purchasing the X-pipe - IF it is even offered anymore. Just sayin.

Anyone can chime in here:

With the '93 - '95 resonator and mufflers is it kind of an oxymoron to do a 500HP build with headers and hi flow cats and then be running through the stock resonator and mufflers?

From Marc H's information, it looks like the biggest restriction is at the inlet of the muffler. Also, in info on his site, it shows a general 5HP difference between 2nd generation stock and a freer flowing exhaust. I guess my question is...does that difference widen as you increase HP?

I am asking in assessing what I might do for mufflers.

Schrade,

When i replaced the exhaust on my Z with the Corsa system I noticed that the inlet to the resonator in the middle of the car was only 1 5/8 inches for each side which then expanded back out on the outlet. I felt that it could be somewhat restrictive coming off the large cat converter pipe. But I,m not an expert on it. Maybe chevy had their reasons.

I think they just cheaped out on the design and used existing restrictive resonators from lesser Corvettes.

That's why we're using Z06 exhaust control valves. No resonator but no drone either. Use an XPipe, and reduce weight.
