do some searches on posts from Tyler Townsley He did some very good write ups on the bypass and removing it.

If you spend LOTS of time above 6000 rpms and have a rad capable of the gpm flow and pressure, I think eleminating the bypass makes sense.

GM spend a ton to save a cheap @$$ rad, doesn't make any sense!!!
